Abstract

10,033. Marcy, F. E. July 9. Ball mills.-A ball-mill cylinder is provided with one-piece liners and improved screening- grates and means for fixing them. The cylinder one-piece liner 2, Fig. 2, has its ends notched to engage lugs 5, 5<1> on the cylinder. The feedend liner 4 is also notched to engage the lugs 5 and is formed with a shoulder to receive the end of the cylinder liner. The grate is made up of a. number of sectors, Fig. 3, each consisting of bars t, t<1> formed with spacing-lugs and bevelled ends. The ends of the bars bear upon radial lifting-vanes 8 to which they are clamped by plates 10. The centres of the longer bars are supported by ribs 13. The bars are fixed against radial movement by an inner section n and an outer section m resting upon a flange 14, Fig. 2, on the cylinder and locked by bolts 16.
