Abstract

6207. Schuster, K. R. April 25, 1914, [Convention date]. Jet apparatus; containers or receptacles; discharging-appliances. - A concrete-mixer comprises a tiltable container fitted with means for supplying air, gas, or steam to the interior thereof for agitating and heating the material, the container being stationary during the mixing operation and movable to different positions for charging and discharging purposes. The container A, Figs. 1 and 2, consisting of an upper cylindrical part a and a lower conical part a<1>, is mounted on trunnions b, b<1> in bearings c<1> on a frame B, and can be moved into the charging position, shown in dotted lines, or into the discharging position, shown in dot-and-dash lines, by means of a hand-shaft f<1> carrying a wheel F<1> gearing with an internal wheel F on the end of the trunnion b. The curved cover G is separate from the container and supported by the upper part of the frame B. Steam &c. is supplied to the lower part of the container by a pipe C communicating with the passage c in the trunnion b<1>, and, to allow the steam &c. to escape, the cover G is provided with an opening g surrounded by a tube G<1> fitted with a baffle g<1>. The valve E is opened automatically when the container is moved into the mixing position beneath the cover G. The edge k of a cam-plate K on the container engages wi h the roller i<1> of a lever I and rocks the shaft H so that the bent end of a lever J engages a loose arm L on the shaft H. The rod L moves a rod M against the tension of a spring O, thus causing the arm m<1> to turn and open the valve. A stuffing-box D' is provided for the pipe D which connects the passage c with the casing e of the valve. A deflector may be fitted opposite the outlet of the pipe C to distribute the steam &c. within the container. In a modification, the cover moves in the opposite direction to the container, being carried by loose arms on the trunnions, one of t' e arms having a toothed segment gearing with a wheel on the tilting shaft.
