Abstract

5437. Constable, W. E., and Snodgrass, N. T. April 10. Doors, wagon.-Relates to sliding doors for freight cars and other structures. A guide 13 and a track 19 for the door are secured to the wall of the structure adjacent to the upper and lower edges respectively of the door opening, and the door is supported on the track by rollers 27 each detachably carried by a bracket 23, which is detachably secured to the door. The guide 13 comprises a sheet-metal strip bent as shown in Fig. 3 to cover and form a retaining-flange 16 for the upper edge of the door, longitudinal extensions of the flange being fixed to vertical posts 11, 12 secured to the wall. The track 19 is supported by brackets 20 secured to the wall, its ends being inwardly bent and secured to the posts 11, 12. Each roller 27 is mounted on a pin 26 which is passed loosely through holes in the U-shaped bracket 23, the head 28 of the pin bearing against the face of the door when the bracket is secured in place. The door carries spacing-rollers 29 which bear against the track 19 and maintain the door against the wall.
