Abstract

2025. Simmen, P. J. Feb. 8. [Addition to 27,474/13.] Electrical systems, non-automatic; track apparatus actuating signals on trains.-The system described in the parent Specification is modified so as to give three signals on the train according as a relay having a polarized and a non-polarized armature is energized or deenergized. The shoe 26, when on a rail 8, breaks the holding-circuit of the magnet 29, which remains energized, after passing a ramp, by current from the battery 57 passing through reversing-switch contacts 40. 400 on the polarized armature 35 so as to maintain this armature in the position to which it was moved by the last current received from a rail 8. The hell 52 is sounded each time the circuit from the contact 28 is broken by the movement of the shoe. The non-polarized armature 34 is raised so long as the magnet 29 is energized. When a positive current is received from the rail 8, the armature 35 takes the dotted-line position, and the lamp 81 is energized through the armature 34 and contacts 36, 39. A negative current causes the armature 35 to move to the full-line position, and a contact 390 puts a lamp 45 in circuit. When no current passes through the magnet 29, the armature 34 drops and puts a lamp 46 in circuit. The switch 56 enables the lamps 45, 81 to be interchanged when required.
