844. Beard, G. F. H., Scott, J. W., and Dempster, R. & J. Jan. 19. Purifiers; washers.-Purifiers are provided with internal arrangements of valves at the inlets and outlets whereby the diagonal direction of flow of the gas through each purifier can be reversed from the inlet without interfering with the general direction of flow. The valves i are mounted on a spindle k and close either the top or bottom of a casing h, so that the diagonal flow through the purifier may be either upwards or downwards. The casing may be extended so as to dip into purifying-liquid. In a modification, each casing is also provided with a valved opening at a central position, and all the valves may be actuated by independent hand-wheels.
