Abstract

139. Gurney, A. J. Jan. 4. Mechanically operated from vehicle; ground levers.-The points C are operated by a depending rod 33 on the vehicle passing through the slot in the track plate 10, 11 and forcing the lever 17 into its other extreme, position; the points are restored, after the vehicle has passed, by the engagement of the rod 33 with one of the spaced restoring-levers 28, 30. The lever 17 is connected to the points through a yoke-piece 22, which is arranged so that its point of connexion with the lever 17 passes beyond the pivot of the lever when the points are operated, see Fig. IV, thereby preventing the points from being restored by the springs 1, 9. The restoring-levers 28, 30 are connected to the two-armed lever 24, the arm 25 of which is adapted to engage and throw the lever 17. The points may be manually operated by inserting the part 39 of the handlever 40, Fig. III, in the tubular journal 18 so that the projection 41 on the hand-lever engages the lug 18<1> on the journal.
