[Published under Section 91 of the Act.] Stamps, ore and like.-Comprises an ore or like stamp having concentric stamps adapted to be reciprocated and rotated, the inner stamp being hollow to allow of a central feed, and the crushed ore being discharged into an annular trough, from which it is washed away to screens. Coarse particles caught in the screens may be returned to the stamp, Fig. 1 shows a partial vertical section of the apparatus, and Fig. 2 a view of the upper part at right-angles to Fig. 1. A frame 8 mounted on a base 2 carries on its top a disk 10 having a central depending bearing 11, through which passes a shaft 40. This shaft 40 is provided at its upper end with fixed collars, between which a loose collar 35 is mounted. The collar 35 is provided with gudgeons 34 passing into slots 14 in the guideframe 13. On the gudgeons are mounted rollers against which bear the lifting-cams 29 on shaft 27. This shaft 27 is driven by gearing from a shaft 21 and is provided with a cam 31 adjustably connected by a link 32 with the ratchet feed 72. The shaft 21 is provided with a bevel-wheel 20 gearing with a bevel-wheel 19 on a vertical shaft 16 having at its lower end a wheel 18 gearing with a toothed ring 58 on the outer stamp 55. The central shaft 40 is connected at its lower end to the inner sleeve 42 of the inner stamp. The inner stamp is formed of two sleeves connected by bridgepieces so as to form an annular central chamber for feeding the material to be crushed, the inner sleeve 42 sliding on the bearing 11 and being attached to the central shaft 40, while the outer sleeve 48 carrying at its base the stamp head 54 is connected to the outer stamp 55 by means of slots and feathers, so that the outer sleeve can be lifted and lowered, with lost motion, by the inner sleeve at the same time that the rotation of the outer sleeve causes the inner to rotate. Screw bolts 59 are provided for securing the two stamps together so that they act as one. In a modified form, the lost motion may be varied by packing-rings, and packing-rings may be employed to prevent the stamp from striking the anvil when crushed products of a predetermined gauge are required. The material to be crushed is fed from a hopper 81 having an adjustable opening 82 on to a travelling endless band 79, which is moved forward by the cam-actuated ratchet 72, thus delivering the material to the annular chamber of the inner stamp, from which it passes by an opening 51 to the central chamber of the stamp head. The crushed ore &c. is discharged at the periphery into an annular trough 84 provided with a water-supply tube 86 and a discharge shoot 87. A water spray 90, and a fan 89 for removing dust, are provided. Collector ring troughs and overflow pipes 46, 62 are provided on the two stamps for excess of lubricant.
