Associating-apparatus; pasting-apparatus.- Newspapers of the kind having the main fold at right-angles to the columns are' arranged with the printed matter in half-pages on each side of the fold, and so that the front half of the paper can be read by turning over the leaves successively in one direction, and the back half can be read by reversing the paper and turning over the leaves successively in the reverse direction. Fig. 2 shows a machine for producing a double twelve-page paper. Two webs 1, 2 are printed three pages abreast by printing couples 5, 6 and 9, 10 having the appropriate forme arrangements, the two webs are imposed at 11 and slit longitudinally at 12 into three pairs of page-wide webs, and the pairs are associated at 23, cut transversely at 24, and folded transversely at 26. Paste may be applied transversely to the appropriate webs at 31, 32, 33.
