Abstract

21,458. Isaacs, J. Oct. 24. Animals and dolls.-A toy animal, doll, &c. is provided with legs of a springy character adapted to contract and expand longitudinally, the legs being free at their lower ends and capable of moving forwardly or rearwardly or laterally independently of each other, so that the animal &c. can be made to jump or walk by pulling a string attached to the fore-part of its back. The body and head of a toy elephant &c. may be of cloth filled with suitable material, and each leg may consist of a coiled spring b covered with suitable material and secured at its upper end to a board a arranged in the body of the animal. The board may consist of a piece of three-ply wood with transverse wooden strengthening-pieces c at each end. Rubber tubular members may be used instead of coiled springs. The invention is applicable to a toy consisting of two dolls connected together, and to an article having two legs, such as a single doll.
