Abstract

20,354. Sj÷str÷m, I. L. Sept. 30, 1913, [Convention date]. Apparatus for treating with liquids.-Cloth (and, according to the Specification as open to inspection, paper) is cooled and conditioned by causing a web thereof to travel in a number of lengths or stretches over suitable guiding-means, the various stretches being exposed to vapour given off from water or other suitable liquid in the spaces between them. In a particular form of apparatus, the web f passes into and out of a closed box a through openings b, c travelling therein in zigzag position over driven rolls d and guide rolls e. Water flows into and out of a tray h in the bottom of the box a through pipes i, j and is brought close to practically the whole length of the web f by conveyers k which are endless aprons of some flexible absorbent material such as duck or felt. Each apron passes over an upper driven roll and a lower guide roll m, which is below the surface of the water in the tray h. The web f travels fast while the conveyers k travel slowly. The Specification as open to inspection under Section 91 (3) (a), in addition to comprising the above-mentioned application of the described treatment to paper, states also that the conveyers &c. may be of non-absorbent material. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
