[Addition to 17,190/14.] Boiling-pans; heating liquids.-To adapt the heating apparatus described in the parent Specification for use in installations operating upon a commercial scale, the thermo-siphon or Field tubes are mounted in a furnace setting. Inclined Field tubes a, Fig. 1, connected to flow and return pipes b, c are arranged in a chamber cl in the path of the gases from a producer f. Conduits c deliver air across the gases entering the beating chamber. Any one of the jackets c may be cut out of the circulation by valves in the pipes connecting the jacket to the main circulation-pipes b<1>, c'. The outer tubes a', Fig. 2, of the Field tubes are secured to flanges on the bottom of the pipe b, and the inner tubes a<3> are secured to plates m between flanges on the top of the pipe band the bottom of the pipe c.
