Abstract

16,143. Coulthard, F., and Briggs, J. July 7. Lateral-splash guards for the wheels of motorvehicles. A metal cross-piece E with bent-down ends is fixed by two clips F to the steering-arm of the wheel, and brackets D, which pass round respectively in front of and behind the wheel, are fixed to the bent-down ends of the cross-piece and connected to the stock C of a splash-preventing brush P on the outside of the wheel. The clips are fixed to the arm in front of, and behind, the boss B through which the arm passes, and to provide for vertical adjustment of the guard the bent-down ends of the cross-piece E are provided with a number of bolt holes for the connexion of the brackets D. Towards its ends the stock carries U-shaped pieces the limbs of which are perforated to fit over the up-turned front ends of the brackets. According to the Provisional Specification the front ends of the brackets are brought together and screwed down to the top of the brush.
