Coupling ; eyes.-In wire - rope lashings for scaffolding &c. and of the kind in which the end of the lashing is secured in a conical socket formed in an extension from a metal eye, by means of a wedge forced between the strands, the eye a is formed to lie in a plane inclined to the axis of the extension b, so that it fits snugly against a round pole from which the lashing extends tangentially. The strands c may be bent over the top of the wedge e, and the head so formed sweated into the socket with solder f.
