Abstract
15,384. Vickers, Ltd., and Pratt, H. B. June 26. Aerostats; cars; framework.-The load of a rigid air-ship is taken by a girder keel which is suspended by wires from the junction points of transverse and longitudinal members of the air-ship frame. The lift of the gas-bags is transmitted to the junction poipts by nets l secured to the longitudinal members and against which the gas-bags bear freely. The keel, which serves as a gangway, comprises upper bars a and a lower bar b connected by transverse tubular members d. Each bar a, b is in sections with concave bearings b<1>, which fit convex bearings d' on the members d and are held detachably in place by spherical-seated sleeves e. Diagonal bracing-wires f, g with spherical heads also fit in the members d. The keel is thus adapted to adjust itself to fit the curved parts of the air-ship, and is supported by wires k connected to the junction points h<1> of the longitudinal members h and the transverse members i of the air-ship frame.
