Abstract

July 12, 1913, [Convention date] Direct a i r p r e s s u r e apparatus, non-automatic. -A tank for combustible or other liquids mounted upon a motor-vebicle is adapted to be filled or emptied by placing it in communication with the suction side or the delivery side respectively of an air-compressing fan which is mounted on the vehicle and is driven through a clutch from the propelling motor. The tank preferably comprises a series of compartments 1, 2, 3, which are in communication at the top through sockets 13, 14, 15 with a pipe 12, which is connected with the suction side of the fan 4 through a three-way valve 8 and a pipe 7, and with the delivery side of the fan through a three-way valve 9 and a pipe 6. The valves 8, 9 are so connected by the operating mechanism 27 that the pipe 7 communicates with the pipe 12 or with the atmosphere according to whether the pipe 6 is in communication with the atmosphere or with the pipe 12. The liquid is supplied to or discharged from the tanks through a pipe 16 with vertical branch pipes 17, 18, 19, or the liquid may be drawn off at the bottom through valves 23, 24 and a pipe 25.
