Abstract

Power hammers; stamping.-Tubes, such as those used for covering insulated electric conductors, are helically grooved by means of cam - operated hammers carried on a rotating disk, through the centre of which the tube is passed. As shown in Figs. 1 and 3, the hammers C carried on side blocks B by bolts D are rotated round the tube M by means, for instance, of the spur gear G. Springs H acting on the tops of the blocks B force them into engagement with the fixed cam wheel E. Thus, as the disk A rotates and the tube M moves along axially, the hammers are operated to and fro radially and impress a helical indentation on the tube under treatment.
