5949. Muntz, W. E. March 9. [Addition to 12,445/13.] Piston-like valves with screwed valve members. -A screw-actuated valve of the type described in the parent Specification, in which a cylindrical valve member is adapted to slide over grooves of varying sectional area formed in the valve seat, has the actuating screw-thread formed on the valve member. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the valve member k is formed with a thread adapted to engage with ribs formed between the wedge-shaped grooves g and has a spindle l. The actuating-spindle m, which is provided with a conical packing-collar p held in contact with the casing by a spring washer t, has a tubular extension m<1> adapted to fit over the spindle l, which it rotates by means of a pin o and slot n. In a modification, a spiral spring is fitted for returning the valve to the closed position,
