Abstract

4281. Lane, F., and Williams, S. E. Aug. 16, 1913. Rope grips. - Rope grips, in which a main plate carries a fixed shoe or jaw provided with a recess directly opposite to a movable gripping- member, are provided with projections on the main plate to prevent the rope canting from the shoe after leaving the recess therein. Fig. 1 shows the invention applied to a grip in which a sliding member 4 is moved by a toggle 6 to and from the recess 3 in the shoe. Projections 8 are provided on one or both sides of the recess according to the invention. Similar projections are shown applied to grips having various kinds of movable gripping- members including toggle-levers engaging the rope directly, a radially-acting cam, and a sliding member formed with a recess for receiving a radially-acting cam.
