2360. Smith, M., and Taylor, Garnett, Evans, & Co. Jan. 29. Rotary machines; cylinder machines. - Thick cards or sheets, or metal plates, are printed in flat condition between oscillating printing and impression cylinders, being conveyed between the cylinders by an open reciprocating gripper frame. The grippers e, e' are carried by sliding side bars D arranged beyond the ends of the cylinders and driven by racks engaging wheels on the impression cylinder A, which is driven by a reciprocating rack J and drives an offset cylinder B and lithographic cylinder C. The sheets are fed into the grippers against rising and falling stops G, and the printed sheets are delivered printed side upwards on a table H. The offset cylinder B is raised to receive an impression from the cylinder C on the return stroke of the grippers, and may also be tripped to an intermediate position. When printing direct, an offset cylinder being dispensed with, the impression cylinder is tripped during the return of the grippers,
