Haymaking. - In machines for raking, tedding, or turning hay or other crops, in which horizontal rake-bars are connected to rotary flyers and are inclined with respect to the flyers and the axle, means are provided for inclining the rake teeth longitudinally or substantially longitudinally with respect to the rakebars. In the combined side - delivery rake and tedder shown, each rakebar consists of two bars h, i movable longitudinally relatively to one another by moving the driving-flyer d laterally by means of an eccentric k<1> operated by a handlever. The flyer d is driven by the two-speed bevel-gearing shown, which is changed by the movement of the gearcase g and shaft f laterally simultaneously with the flyer d. The tines j are slightly inclined rearwardly and are loosely connected to the bar h and pass through the bar i. The bar h is slidably connected to a bracket l on a pin l<1> mounted in the driving-flyer d, and the bar i is rigidly secured to an arm l<3> pivoted on a pin l<2> on the bracket l. The bars are also connected by similar but reversed brackets m to the driven flyer e, the bar i being slidably connected to the bracket, and the bar h rigidly secured to the arm m<3>, so that lateral movement of the flyer d moves the bar i relatively to the bar h and rocks the tines j in one direction for tedding and in the other for raking. Slotted plates h<1> are fixed on the bars h. The frame comprises bent bars a and cross-bars c, c<1> and is raised and lowered relatively to the rear wheel b<2> by means of a chain o' passing around pulleys o<2> and connected to a lever o near the seat n. The flyers shown consist of radially corrugated disks. According to the Provisional Specification, each rake-bar may consist of two bars connected together by links.
