Abstract
101. Goold, E. Jan. 2. Cameras, reflex.-Relates to reflex cameras of the type in which the rays passing through the lens are reflected successively by two mirrors between the lens and the focusing-screen. In the construction shown in Fig. 1, a focal-plane shutter is employed, and the rays passing through the lens 13 are reflected by mirrors 1, 2 to a focusing-screen 3. The mirror 1 is pivoted at 4, so as to enable an exposure to be made when the mirror is turned to the position shown in dotted lines, and also to enable the lens mount to be pushed in when not in use. The mirror 2 and focusing-screen 3 are adapted to fold up as shown in dotted lines. In a modification, the front portion of the camera, holding the lens, mirrors, and screen, is attached to the back portion holding the shutter and plate-holder by pivoted links &c., so that the two portions can be folded together, a baseboard and strut being also provided if desired. In a further modification, the front portion holding the lens and mirrors is attached to the back portion holding the shutter, plate-holder, and screen by rack-and-pinion or other mechanism, to secure adjustment for focusing.
