29,197. Luyties, O. G. Dec. 18, 1912, [Convention date]. Vehicular l a nterns. - In automobile head-lights, glare is reduced by placing a shield S with a central aperture O in front of the light L. The shield S may b e translucent, or opaque, or a reflector, a n d may form part of a spherical surface having its centre at L. The central aperture O may be glazed, a n d the inside of the cylindrical portion of the head-light is preferably of polished metal. The front glass G has a transparent centre and a surrounding translucent portion T. The reflector R is approximately ellipsoidal, and is of such curvature that one focus is at L and the other focus at A. The Specification as open to inspection under Section 91 (3) (a) comprises also a device for illuminating the front of the automobile and the side of the road, in which windows W, Fig. 2, are formed in the position shown, one on each side of the casing. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
