Abstract

28,543. Wade, H., [Fr÷lich und Kl³pfel, S.]. Dec. 10. Metal pipes and tubes; pipes with removable liners.-In a pipe for conveying solids, liquids, or gases, and more particularly for conveying mining refuse, guides are provided in the interior of the pipe parallel or approximately parallel to the pipe axis, in order to minimize eddies at bends or at points where the pipe section changes. A loose liner b, Fig. 3, in a pipe a is shown with ribs d at the upper portion of the side on the outer radius of a bend, i.e. in the zone carrying chiefly the rinsing-water in a mining pipe. In the straight runs, a T-iron e, Fig. 4, is used at the upper part of the pipe. Several ribs may be used, either at one part of the periphery or, as shown in Fig. 10, distributed around the whole surface of a pipe which can be turned from time to time to distribute the wear uniformly. The ribs may be integral with the pipe or liner, or be inserted in them, or secured in any other manner with or without interchangeability. They may be continuous or provided at intervals along the pipe. They may be formed as beads i, Fig. 11, stamped in a pipe length or cast in it ; or local ledges k, Fig. 14, may be pressed out of the pipe wall when the collar is being welded on. A short inner ring with ledges may also be used locally.
