Blocks and the like acting on drums; fluid-pressure. -A brake, particularly suitable for use with epicyclic change speed gearing, comprises blocks a, a<1> pivoted at diametrically-opposed points b, b<1> and carrying at their free ends x equal bell-cranks c, c<1>, which are connected to fixed points g by links e and to pistons m, m<1> by rods h. The pistons operate simultaneously in cylinders n, n<1>, fluid being admitted or exhausted through pipes t, t' and a three-way valve r. Springs s release the brakes. Specification 22,020/13 is referred to. Compensating for, wear.-Right and left handed nuts e<1> are provided on the links e.
