Abstract

27,356. Hollister, F. L. Dec. 13, 1912. Dynamos, regulating. - A constant-voltage variable-speed dynamo is provided between the pole-pieces f and 'at one extremity of the armature with a variable magnetic shunt, which comprises a semi-cylindrical, magnetic portion o with a re-entrant part o<1>, into which enters the spur o<3> of a non-magnetic portion o<2> of lead &c. The magnetic shunt is mounted on a ball bearing so that it can turn under increasing field distortion and reduce the flux threading the armature, or the position of the shunt may be controlled by a device in accordance with the speed of the dynamo.
