The invention is applied to coupling lead, ' compo,' or other soft metal tubing together or to hard metal pipes or sockets, and is limited to joints of the type in which the sleeve has a thickened outer edge e, Fig. 6, a shoulder c at the end of the conical portion d, and a conical angle different from that on the nipple, as shown.
