Abstract

23,350. Ionides, A. C. Oct. 15. Gas-mixing appliances. - In apparatus for mixing air and gas for burning, of the type described in Specification 15,455/09, [Class 75 (i), Burners &c.], the proportions of the mixture are regulated by apparatus such as that described in Specification 21,112/11, [Class 135, Valves &c.], so that no appreciable amount of either constituent remains after combustion. The air current flows along a pipe a, and the gas is introduced into the pipe a from a jacket d in such fashion that the strength of the mixture is increased as the place of use is approached. This is effected by introducing the gas from the jacket d into the pipe a through a series of rings of holes f in the wall of the pipe a. The rings nearer the place of use preferably contain more holes than those more remote. Pipes m lead from the holes f to various regions of the pipe a, the pipes m nearest the air inlet being the longest. A form in which the pipes m are dispensed with to save space is described for use in connexion with a furnace such as that described in Specification 2839/12, [Class 75(i), Burners &c.].
