Abstract

Theatrical appliances.-A vehicle which forms part of a theatrical illnsion apparatus is provided with means for rocking or bumping it in all directions, means for raising a dust beneath the wheels, and a strip of flexible material to imitate a roadway. The vehicle is furnished on its underside with a hemispherical projection a adapted to rest upon the concave top b of a trolly c. A lever d pivoted to the trolly has an upturned end which enters a recess in the projection a. By means of the lever, the car can be rocked and bumped about in imitation of the motion of a car travelling over an uneven road. The trolly has an extension f to which a strip g of flexible material representing a roadway is attached. The strip g is also secured to arms n on the car by any easily detachable device. In order to heighten the illusion, dust falling from pipes j is blown under the wheels by means of compressed air or carbon dioxide stored in a container k under the bonnet. The dust, preferably bran, is placed in a receptacle h under the bonnet and passing through pipes j is blown about by gas issuing from nozzles m.
