Abstract
22,933. Mauser, P. Nov. 27, 1912, [Convention date]. Sights.-Consists in detachably mounting a telescope sight on a rifle by a joint having wedge surfaces so arranged that the recoil of the gun tends to tighten the joint. At the side of the breech-body is a wedge-shaped projection h, Fig. 4, which has undercut edges, and fits into a corresponding recess i, Fig. 5, in the base s<1> of the telescope support s. The projection h is divergent towards the front so that, during the recoil of the gun, it is tightened into the tapering recess i. The support base s' is held on the projection h by a spring latch k pivoted to the base and having a heel-piece k<2>, which, when the latch is turned outwards, engages the rear end of the projection h and positively loosens the joint. The support s is joined to the base s<1> only at the rear as shown in Fig. 6, and a set-screw u is provided at the front whereby the telescope can be adjusted laterally.
