Abstract

Detaching from, and attaching to, permanent hubs.-Headed studs a, Fig. 1, carried by a flange on the fixed hub and passing through holes in the detachable hub, are locked by slotted plates b sliding radially in undercut recesses in the face of the detachable hub under the action of cams. The plates may be simultaneously operated by cam-grooves d‹ co-operating with pins b<1> on the slides and formed in a ring d, which is rotatable in a recess in the detachable hub and is adapted to be locked in position by the spring pawl f and rack g. The operating-tool e has holes taking-over pins d<1> on the ring d, and has a limited amount of lost motion to allow the tail e<1> of the tool to disengage the pawl by pressing on the projection f<1> thereon. The locking-members may have a simultaneous pivotal movement by rotation of the ring to which they are linked. The studs may be carried on the detachable hub and the locking-members on the permanent hub, and the slides and studs are preferably shaped to give a wedging action at the end of the closing stroke.
