Abstract
16,793. Auster, A. C. July 22. Pivot adjustments for wind-screens for motor and other vehicles and for analogous purposes. The pivot or trunnion 2 carried by the screen rotates in an externally toothed eye 3 carried by a fixed standard 4. A radial screw pin 7 fixed to the pivot 2 passes through a circumferential slot 6 in the eye and carries a sliding toothed plate 8 operated by a nut 9. Relative lateral movement of the joint elements is resisted by the pins 7 and by lugs 11 on the plate 8 engaging the sides of the eye 3, or by a square portion 12, Fig. 7, of the plate 8 fitting into the slot 6 in the eye. The teeth are disengaged by a spring 10 when the nut 9 is slackened. The joint may be arranged at one side of the screen or at the middle of its length.
