Bismuth carboxylates.-The bismuth salt of gallo-carboxylic acid which is valuable for therapeutic purposes is obtained from gallo-carboxylic acid or its soluble salts. In the examples, gallo-carboxylic acid is dissolved in methyl alcohol and the solution is added to a bismuth-nitrate solution in acetic acid; moist bismuth hydroxide and acetic acid are added to a solution of the potassium salt of gallo-carboxylic acid; and a solution of the potassium salt of gallo-carboxylic acid is added to a solution of bismuth nitrate in acetic acid. In each case, the yellow precipitate is filtered off, washed and dried.
