Ammonia, distilling; progressive evaporators. -An apparatus for distilling ammonia from waste ammonium chloride liquors treated with electrolysed brine comprises a heated vessel with walls E arranged so that the liquor entering at the point A takes a circuitous path. Air &c. for the displacement of the ammonia vapours is introduced at the point D, and the removal of the ammonia is facilitated by filling the spaces between the walls with wire gauze, filings, &c. Or distillation may be assisted by reduction of pressure, by agitation, or by combinations of these methods. The vapour space may be divided into compartments with separate outlet pipes. The liquid may be discharged into a vessel with a stirring-device for removing the last traces of ammonia.
