Abstract
16,201. Hopkins, M. C. July 15, 1912, [Convention date]. Kinematograph apparatus. - In a kinematograph of the continuously moving film type wherein a transparent polygonal refracting-body A having an even number of faces is rotated between the moving film F and the lantern objective L, only parallel light is used, means being employed to render the light rays parallel before reaching the film F. When a rotating polygonal refracting-body of lower refractive index is used, it has fewer and longer sides and means are provided for moving the parallel beam of light with the film. These means may comprise a similar transparent polygonal refracting-body A' mounted to rotate in the opposite direction on the other side of the film. For colour kinematography, the faces of the polygon may be coloured. Film-centring means comprise a pinion k<1> and rack k to shift axially and so to rotate the spiral pinion d<111> on the spindle of the film-feeding sprocket F<1>. Firepreventing means comprise a governor-controlled shutter made of opal glass or having a dispersing-lens in it, and flare tops on the film gate are provided to deflect the flames from the film above the gate if a fire does occur. Specification 7650/01 is referred to.
