Alternating - current, induction machines; rotary converters.-In starting cascade groups comprising an asynchronous machine having its rotor directly connected with the armature of a synchronous machine, a polyphase reactance coil St is connected across the slip-rings b in addition to the ordinary resistance Rt, the reactance coil tending to bring the group into exact synchronism. The reactance may be connected permanently in series with the resistance Rt. The invention is applicable to cascade groups in which the machines have the same or different numbers of poles. Specifications 7135/12 and 5481/13 are referred to.
