Exciting.-Relates to self-regulating dynamos which are driven at varying speeds or with a varying resistance across the terminals and are provided with main brushes d and supplementary brushes d<1> connected through resistances e. The invention consists in connecting one end of each of the excitation coils g on the main poles a to a main brush d and the other end of the coil to a supplementary brush d', as shown. Supplementary poles b may be provided for receiving the armature cross-magnetization, or the sides of the magnet yoke may be brought close to the armature. The output of the machine may be regulated by varying or shortcircuiting the resistances e, which may be of the temperature-coefficient type. Series turns may be placed on the main or supplementary poles, and the number of auxiliary poles may be half that of the main poles.
