The inner end 2 of a platform 1 is turned down to form a rigid transverse bearing-plate to abut against the outer face of the back stays &c. of the machine. The sides of the carrier are also turned down at 3 and the ends thereof are bent inwards and secured to the bearing-plate 2. A reinforcing-plate 5 is also secured over the bentin sides and depending bearing-plates. The carrier thus forms a rigid structure wihout the use of stays and is secured to the cycle by means of a two-part clip 7, and a screw 8 passing through the bearing-plate and through the ends of the clip parts.
