Abstract

Electroliers. - In electroliers of the kind having a series of horizontal arms carrying lamps the inner ends of which are held between two separable plates carried by the pendant, one of the plates M is provided with a projection m, Fig. 1, which engages a notch a in each arm A so as to prevent horizontal or longitudinal movement or rotation about its axis. The projection m is in the form of a ring, and is of the same height as the depth of the notch a. A shallow groove m<2> is formed between the projection m and the lower surface of the plate M, and the edges of the projection m are rounded, to ensure the projection reaching to the bottom of the notches. Heavy iron sleeves may be used to reinforce the ends of the arms A, and the notch a is preferably curved to conform to the curvature of the projection m. The plate M is carried by the stem S, and is provided with threaded holes through which pass screws X supporting the lower plate N. A casing b, having apertures for the arms A, closes the space between the plates M, N and is supported from the plate M by the flange b<1>. A slidable shell 0 secures the casing b in place when in its lower position, and a similarlyshaped shell is provided below the plate N. The stem S is secured to the ceiling plate F by a telescopic connexion f, and is provided with a lateral hole s for the entrance of the leads w, which are secured to the wires w in the arms A as shown.
