Abstract

8915. Tucker, G. F. April 16. Road-vehicle signals.-A stopping or turning signal for motor-cars and other vehicles comprises a semaphore c with ruby or other glass d which is backed by a reflector. The semaphore is operated by a wire o attached at its other end to a cap p<2>, which is positively connected by a strap m to the brake pedal or other suitable lever under control of the driver. The fall of the semaphore is assisted either by a spring which when the signal is operated is compressed between the tail of the semaphore and the bracket g; or by a resilient coiled wire p surrounding the wire o and clamped at q and adapted to be compressed between the bracket g and the head p<2>. A chamber b<1> leaves room for movement of the apparatus, and is closed by a cover b<2> hinged at b<3>.
