Abstract

5819. "Rapax " Apparatenbau-Ges. March 11, 1912, [Convention date]. Inking - apparatus.- A rotary duplicating- machine of the kind fitted with an internal inking - apparatus comprising an inking-roller mounted on an oscillating arm which is controlled by an adjustable cam to vary the time the inking - roller is in contact with the printing-surface, is constructed with a cam comprising a disk rigidly connected to the drum and two other camdisks rotatable relatively to the first and clamped in position by screw bolts. The inking-roller is mounted so as to contact along the whole line of the ductor roller and the printing-surface, and the frame of the inking-roller can be adjusted so as to vary the pressure of this roller on the printing-surface. The inking-roller can be tripped from its driving-gear. As shown, the printing-drum is mounted in frames r on a fixed shaft f which forms bearings for hubs v of the drum. The inking-roller a is mounted in a frame n pivoted by a central bolt 7 to a farme b in such a manner that the frame n can swivel around the bolt to bring the roller a parallel with the surface of the drum when in contact therewith, and with the supply roller t when in contact with it. The frame b is oscillated about pivots 8 in a frame c, adjustably suspended from the shaft f to vary the pressure of the roller a on the printing-surface, by means of cam and lever mechanism 9, 10, 11, 1.2.3, the cam 1.2.3 comprising a fixed portion 1 and movable parts 2, 3 set by means of pins 16 and a scale, and held in adjusted positions by a clamping-screw 4. The raised part of the cam maintains the roller a in contact with the ductor roller t, and a spring 14 moves the roller into contact with the printing-surface when the recessed part of the cam is in the operative position. The roller t, which is fitted with a wiping-roller o, is driven by gears 13, 17 from the printing-drum. The drive between the gear 17 and shaft of the roller t consists of a spring-controlled pin 22 on an arm fixed to the shaft and a series of slots in the gear 17; by withdrawing the pin 22 by hand the supply of ink can be stopped at any time.
