Roller mills. - Rolling or grinding apparatus for treating chocolate &c. comprises a number of c o nsecutive r o l l e r s working at only two different speeds, the fast and slow rollers being arranged alternately. Fig. 1 shows t h e fast rollers 1, 3, 5, 7 and slow rollers 2, 4, 6 superposed so that. their centres are all in one vertical plane. Scrapers B in contact with the fast rollers direct the material into hoppers C beneath, whence it passes between the next pair of rollers. In Fig. 2, the rollers are arranged in staggered relation, the fast rollers 1, 3, 5, 7 being in one vertical plane, and the slow rollers 2, 4, 6 in another. The scrapers B are now placed beneath the fast rollers, and the intermediate hoppers are dispensed with. In another arrangement, the two sets of rollers are arranged in parallel oblique planes.
