Abstract

5215. Jones, T. H. March 1. Braiding-machines.-Relates to machines for producing plain and fancy braids, lace fabrics, braided cores, &c. and provided with flexible bobbin carriers such as described in Specification 10,277/11. Each carrier may consist of two short lengths of chain 1, 2 connected together by spacing-studs 3 and driven by upper and lower toothed wheels 10, 11. Spring plates 4 on either side of the carrier are attached to a central block 5 and end blocks 6 so that the front end of the carrier when passing between the points 16, 17 of the guide-rim 14 will straighten out, thus enabling the bobbin to pass automatically from one plate to another. Switches 19, pivoted at 20, are used to hold the carriers on their respective driving-wheels. If the switch is placed in the position shown, it engages a pin 18 on the underside of the carrier 21 and prevents it from changing over to the wheel 25. As the carrier passes by the switch, it acts upon a projecting part 23 and sets it in the position for holding the carrier 24 on the wheel 25.
