Switches. - When the slip-holder 2 of an automatic telegraph apparatus is raised, a cam 6, which is mounted with it on a spindle 3, pushes back a roller 8 and a spring-pressed lever 7 so as to move switch arms 11, 12 to the position shown in dotted lines. The cam 6 is shaped so that the switch arms cannot remain in a middle position, and a lever 13 may be swung under the raised slip-holder to prevent it from being accidentally replaced. The switch arms 11, 12 are made springy and flexible, and are provided with heads of metal, such as platinum, to rub on contacts of another metal, such as an alloy of gold. The arm 7 may be connected to the switch arms 11, 12 through gearing.
