28,763. Druet, L. F. A., and Larraburu, G. Dec. 13. Bakers' ovens.-Comprises modifications in ovens with endless travelling soles. The sole is carried by front and rear sprockets 7, 8 on shafts 9, 10 mounted to rotate in antifriction bearings 11. The rear bearings are movable to allow tensioning of the sole by a counterweight, and comprise a carriage 30, Fig. 6, mounted on rollers 31 running on a fixed framework 32. The sole is driven from the rear axle through worm gearing 36, 37, so dimensioned that the gears remain in mesh whatever the position of the carriage 30 on the framework. Each element of the sole consists of a metal holder 15. with a dovetailed groove, in which are secured shaped fire-bricks 16 forming the surface of the sole. The sides of the groove are parallel for a short distance near the middle of the holder to allow the insertion and removal of the bricks. The elements are hinged together by perforated ears 17, 18, which are shaped to engage with the teeth of the sprockets 7, 8. The upper and lower laps of the sole are supported between their ends by auxiliary endless roller chains 20, running on guide-rails 22, 23, and positioned to be engaged by bearing-pieces 24 carried by the holders 15. Sliding plates 40 mounted on wheels 41 carried by axles freely supported in guides 43 protect the front end of the sole from the direct heat of the fire. The oven preferably slopes downwards from front to rear, and a guiding slope 46 and an endless conveyer 48 are provided to facilitate the insertion and withdrawal of the loaves.
