Chains with separate jaws.-A chair with one integral jaw 10 has a slot 11 receiving the other jaw, which is formed on a plate 7 housed in a recess 8 of the base 6 of the chair. This recess 8 provides a flange abutment 9 for the plate 7 and intersects the slot 11 at right-angles. Holes 12 are provided for spikes which secure the plates 6, 7 together and to the sleeper.
