Rotors.-Turbine rotors are built up of a number of short members of channel section which, when secured together or to the shaft, present a surface forming part of the cylindrical surface of the rotor. The short members a, Fig. 1, are provided with inwardly projecting flanges c, and are secured to disks e, some of which are reinforced by angle-rings g. In a modification, no intermediate disks are used, the elements being directly welded together, the complete drum thus formed being secured to spiders at each end in the usual way. The intermediate disks c, Fig. 4, may be provided with central distance-pieces j encircling the shaft k. To allow axial expansion, the rotor may be made up of spaced sections by the insertion of rings m.
