Abstract

Blackboards.-A blackboard comprises two parts or boards 9, 10, which are mounted in frames 5, 6 so as to turn on horizontal pivots, the two frames 5, 6 being connected by a cord 7 passing over a pulley 8 and capable of moving vertically in guide grooves 4 provided on an outer frame 3, which is suspended in another frame 1 fixed to a wall, and can be sloped outwards from the wall by means of a lever mechanism arranged on the fixed frame 1. The mechanism for sloping the frame 3 comprises a lever-handle 17 pivoted at 16, a rod 13 connecting the shorter arm 15 of the leverhandle with a rod 12 which is pivoted on an arm 11 projecting edgeways from the frame 3, and a pin at the junction of the rods 12, 13 extending into a guide-groove 14 on the frame 1. When the handle 17 is pulled downwards, the rod 13 rises and causes the rod 12 to push the frame 3 outwards from the wall.
