Abstract
21,859. Read, W. G. Sept. 25. Discharging-devices for endless-chain conveyers and elevators. - Spring-controlled cams F pivotally mounted on the carriage H of a longitudinally-travelling hopper M engage the projections on the sides of the buckets of the gravity-bucket conveyer described in Specification 21,860/12 in order to discharge it. The projection c<0> first engages the projection f<3> on the cam, and the bucket is thrown over until the pin d<0> moves into contact with a surface f<4>. When the pin moves into the position d<3>, a pin e<0> engages the under surface of a guide-rail G and completes the inversion of the bucket. Fig. 3 shows a modification in which the cams F carry a pivoted part 0 which can be adjusted to engage the projections c<0> on the bucket shown, or projections in the positions c<x>, c<y> on the other buckets. The cam 0 is normally held by a pivoted locking-lever R engaging recesses in a plate Q. The cam O is raised into any one of its three positions by pulling cords t', t<2>, t<3>, which raise levers s<1>, s<2>, s<3> acting on the lower part of the plate Q into engagement with stops v<1>, v<2>, v<3>. When overturning, the pin d‹ runs over the surface F, and, as the bucket commences to right itself, is caught beneath a ledge p on a spring-controlled lever P which arrests the righting- motion.
