Abstract

21,424. James, R. E., and Thompson, F. A. Sept. 20. Planes, construction of; steering and balancing.- The flexible rear edge b of the supporting-planes of an aeroplane is bowed upwards for steering and balancing, or for facilitating rising, by movement of the tip c of the plane horizontally inwards. The upper surface of the rear part of the plane when bowed upwards presents a negative incidence to the air current. The plane may be of triangular shape as shown, and the front part a is rigid.
