Endless-chain machines ; processes. - Artificial stone, formed of substances such as asbestos and cement mixed with water and filling-materials, is moulded by passing the mass between two converging tracks, which can move in a longitudinal direction, are capable of resisting flexion, and are closed laterally. The mass of material may be strewn with fragmentary coloured materials, prior to compressing, to obtain a coloured surface. A suitable apparatus for carrying out the invention comprises a mixing-apparatus of similar construction to that described in Specification 19,359/12, which delivers the material in the form of a ribbon to a conveyer 21, which carries it between a pair of endless converging bands 22, 23 furnished with transverse grid bars provided with ribs 25, Fig. 3, and sieves 26. The upper chain is supported by beams 29 adjustable by screws 32. The pressure tracks are guided by nails, and the space between the tracks is closed laterally by flanges on the lower grid bars. The apparatus forms no part of the invention.
